MOCHDRE 2NDS v DENBIGH 2NDS
Mochdre's 2nd XI also recovered from a sticky start to pick up their first Division 3 victory of the season in a well-contested tussle with Denbigh II. Despite opener Clifton Robinson's 22, continuing his good form shown against Flint the previous week, Mochdre found themselves on 33 for 3, all the wickets falling to Ryan Dear, 3 for 20 off 7. At this point the experienced Peter S Williams, 37, was joined by debut-making Bill Maidlow. Together they added 61 for the fourth wicket, Maidlow progressing to an impressive unbeaten 53, including seven boundaries, before being joined by Brian Boswell whose swashbuckling 28 not out, added to their unbroken partnership of 83 and a season's best total of 178 for 4 off 45 overs. The Denbigh reply began well, Ianto Lewis, 56, and Carwyn Brown, 34, guiding the visitors to 116 for 1, before 12 year old Adam Campion, 1 for 35 off 9, broke the partnership by clean bowling Brown. Bill Maidlow capped a superb debut snapping up 5 for 42 off 11, whilst Peter S Williams crowned a fine match, defying the years with 3 for 34 off 12 . A touch of eccentric wicket-keeping off the last ball denied Maidlow his sixth wicket and left Denbigh rueing the 29 extras they gifted Mochdre as their innings closed eleven runs short at 167 for 9.

SATURDAY 26TH MAY
MOCHDRE 2NDS v HAWARDEN PARK 2NDS
In the reverse Division 3 fixture, Mochdre 2nd XI notched up their second successive win with a 40 run victory at Hawarden Park. Openers Albie Woods, 37, and Clifton Robinson, 21, provided a solid start, useful runs being added by Peter S Williams, 36, Brian Boswell, 15 not out, and skipper Alun Evans, 13, as Mochdre reached 159 for 6 off their 45 overs. The wily skills of veteran left arm spinner Bob Sugden proved the undoing of the home side as he removed their middle order with 3 for 12 off 12, before Steve Penk, 3 for 5 off 4, and Bill Maidlow 2 for 27 off 11, made short work of the tail as Park were dismissed for 119.
