DENBIGH 2NDS vMOCHDRE 2NDS

Mochdre 2 nd XI continued their recent run of good form with an excellent 51 run victory at Denbigh 2nds in the 3 rd Division of the North Wales League. Mochdre were given a solid start with veteran Albie Woods, 20, and all-rounder Neil Campion, 24, contributing a fifty run opening partnership. The arrival of Wasim Ali, batting at three, saw Mochdre take firm control. Fine stroke-play took Ali to a sparkling unbeaten 82, and he shared an unbroken stand o f 118 with skipper Alun Evans, 29 not out, as Mochdre reached 196 for 3 off their 45 overs. Denbigh also started well through Gary Lyle, 31, before 12 year old Wales schoolboy junior Adam Campion showed the merits of bowling straight and steady to rip out the Denbigh middle order for a senior career best of 5 for 41 off 11 overs. Neil Campion provided fine support with 2 for 29 off 12 as the home side was bowled out for 145.

MOCHDRE 2NDS v MYNYDD ISA

Mochdre 2 nd XI battled bravely at league leaders Mynydd Isa before losing by four wickets in a low scoring game. Batting first Mochdre were skittled for 70 all out, skipper Alun Evans, 17, and Wasim Ali, 12, as Mynydd Isa bowlers Ian Martin, 3 for 16 off 12, and Neil Amos, 3 for 27 off 12, made the most of a damp wicket. Veteran left arm spinner Bob Sugden, 4 for 14 off 8, gave the home side a serious scare before Greg Magins, 32, guided them home with four wickets to spare.
